Halloween is right around the corner and the gram is full of basket inspirations of all sorts and at times it can be pretty overwhelming. There was a time when I use to think that I had to follow suit and create things just as magnificent and Pinterest-worthy for my kids. But eventually I came to realize that I know my kids best and their interests, and decided to stick with following the child. Inspirations are just that. They are there to inspire and I chose to take them in as a grain of salt and apply them only if they fit for my family. So this year I’ve decided to take the holiday gifting down a notch and gift purposefully with things I know that my kids will enjoy. This year we put together a Halloween Activity Basket and are also giving Halloween Activity Packs as well. We’ve been doing the activity packs every Halloween and the kids really love it. So if boo baskets isn’t really your jam but you still want to make a special gift to get your kids excited about Halloween, here is an idea that is simple and easy that we’ve been doing each year.
At the start of October we give our kids some fun Halloween themed things to kick off the spooky holiday season. What we give them can vary from year to year depending on their interests (check out the Halloween activity baskets we do as well), but one thing we do each year is give them a fun season themed activity pack. Our kids have always been into coloring, crafting, and love cutting and pasting, so activity packs and activity books are always a go-to for us. Most activity packs/books tend to be educational as well so we absolutely love giving them to the kids! This year we used the printable Halloween Activity Pack from our shop but we have also just printed out coloring pages and activity sheets we found available on the internet (see photo below of the activity pack we put together last year).
We’ll pair the activity sheets with some stickers, crayons, or some other small craft kit like wooden paddle balls that they can paint or color. Craft stores like Joann or Michaels always have a great variety of mini craft kits and at times you can get them on a great sale! We keep it pretty simple and package it up nicely by slipping them into a dry erase pocket decorated with stickers and sometimes adding a fun sparkly bow. This can also be wrapped with wrapping paper but we just save the dry erase pocket and use that as our packaging year after year as we love the reusability factor. If you don’t have time to print activity packs, then coloring books are a great and simple gift as well.
We tend to think that kids need all sorts of fancy stuff but sometimes simple can be just as impactful and less can be more! Hope this inspiration was helpful in putting together an easy and fun activity pack for your kiddos!
Happy Halloween!
xoxo
